About This Site

You’re disgusted by all the books, and book lists out there that you personally have to pick through to find what you need. I know. I’ve been there. And I’ve come to change that. To tell you the truth, I hate library book lists. To find out if I really want to read the book or not, I have to order it in and check it out myself. And neither you nor I have time for that.

That’s why I started Learning Resource Directory. You need something that is fast, reliable, and gives you all the information you need about any particular book so you know you aren’t wasting your time.

I know there are a fair number of book reviews sites on the Internet. So why another resource site? Well, it’s quite simple. I’ve always loved reading other blogs – learning to know other people through what they write. But whenever I see a new book review come up on other people’s blogs, I inwardly cringe and quickly delete the email. That might seem a bit silly, because this site is all about reviews, but bear with me.

It’s not that I hate reviews, I believe they can be masterpieces as well as any other articles. The problem is, I am not interested in wasting my time reading a review of a book I have no desire to read. And I know you aren’t either.

That’s why, when the idea for this website came to me, I got really excited. I’ve written my own book reviews in the past and posted them on my blog, but I knew that I was missing something. That something was making them available. This website’s aim is to combine the power of reviews with a place where you (and others) can easily search and find the books you need.

While written with homeschoolers in mind, I hope others – public and private students as well and even teachers and parents – will be able to find this resource useful. I want this to be a place where you can know what you’re looking for, and find that as efficiently as possible without having to search through a boring library catalogue. In each book review, I try to include the reason the book is helpful, and the things you might want to watch out for as well. Essentially, this is the place you want to go to to find anything on any topic you can think of.

Yes, it’s still small. Lord willing, it will grow bigger as time goes on. I’m hoping you’ll be able to use this to find the books you need to teach yourself (or your children) quickly, effectively, and without stress. I love books, and I know that if I find this helpful, you will, too. Clean books, especially in the days we live in now, are very hard to find. Even though some books on here will have things in them you won’t agree with, I hope the search will be easier and less time-intensive for you. I also hope you’ll be able come away with quality resources you’re happy for your family to read or listen to.

All the best!

Esther
