The Reunion by Rachael McIntireTitle: The Reunion
Author:
Rachael McIntire
Major Themes: Adoption, Twins, Christian Fiction
Synopsis:
The twins Sarah and Amanda have been left on two different doorsteps, eventually to be adopted into two totally different families—but will the two ever have the chance to know each other?

I first read The Reunion several years ago when we first came across the Elisha Press website. I was fourteen at the time, and I remember enjoying the ending of the story immensely—everything turns out good in the end. So when I recently remembered the book, I thought it would be a great one to read and review for the website, since it is a Christian story with clean themes.

As newborns, the twins Sarah and Amanda were left in baskets on two different people’s doorsteps several hundred miles apart. Sarah was adopted by a loving Christian family that couldn’t have more children, while Amanda was adopted by a rich couple who had never had children. Will they ever see each other? Will they be happy in the homes that they have been adopted into?

The Reunion is an interesting story, but I found it a little too perfect in some ways. Everything happens with the perfect timing, and while I enjoyed the story, I felt like it wasn’t very realistic. However, it is a very clean, Christian book, one that would be great for younger readers who just want something easy and satisfying to read. I especially recommend the story for children in the 7–12 age range; for them, this would be a great book.
